Pamper With Merumaya Mud Marvels Mask

merumaya marvels mud mask

Ever love smothering your face in sticky face masks, sitting back and feeling your face getting cleaner and cleaner? Well if you answered yes to that then you're my kinda person! I have a bit of an obsession with face masks, normally once a week or so I purchase one of those packet ones from somewhere like Boots and send my Sunday afternoon smothered up looking like something from a horror movie. It's so satisfying taking them off and seeing your face look clearer. So when Merumaya got in touch and offered the chance to try their new Mud Marvels Mask I practically leaped through my computer screen at the opportunity.

What mostly excited me about Mud Marvels Mask is the ingredients such as volcanic ash to draw out impurities, activated charcoal to extract toxins and cleanse pores as well as nourishing oils, antioxidants and vitamins to keep skin nourished. To some it up, it's full of lots of lovely natural ingredients to deeply cleanse your skin whilst keeping your skin moist. For someone who has long suffered dry skin issues, I was intrigued to see if this was the case.

Not be disappoint, the Mud Marvel Mask worked absolute magic on my skin. It's rather odd when applying as your pasting blue mud on your face (I joke, I absolutely love doing it even if I did look like a smurf after) and it smells refreshingly clean and spa like. Living up to its purpose, it left my face amazingly clear and smooth. When I used other face mass I always find my skin so dry for days after but Mud Marvels Mask leaves your skin feeling super silky and soft and not mention so clear! I look completely refreshed after using it each time.

If you're looking for a quality face mask that wont dry out your skin and will clear away blackheads and blocked pores, I seriously recommend Merumaya! Stocked in selected John Lewis stores an online at Merumaya's site - http://www.merumaya.com/product-range/mud-marvels-mask.html , this is one I definitely urge you to try! Especially for those who may have more sensitive and dry skin

Happy spa time ladies!

Autumn Instagram Update

One of my favourite styles of blog posts is when people do Instagram updates. It's a really fun way to discover new instagram accounts but also a nice feature post to do on your blog. I'm trialling new styles out on Instagram and I thought I could do a little Instagram update from Autumn so far. Enjoy!
hot chocolate mason jars
Hot Chocolate filled cosy nights
On a weekly food shop with the boyf we stumbled across these cute mason jar mugs in Asda and couldn't resist at £2 each. They're perfect for everything from gin and tonics (naturally) and hot chocolate topped with whipped cream and marshmallows. We're quite the pros at cosy warm sofa nights accompanied by hot chocolate. However I don't recommend drinking them before bed as if you're anything like me you'll be peeing all night long, Sorry for the deets.
autumn wardrobe
Autumn wardrobe
I've used this photo in a previous blog post on Autumn. I'm thoroughly enjoying Autumn and naturally Autumn wardrobes! From cosy shirts to chunky jumpers, I definitely wear Autumn better than summer.
Dune Magis Design Puppy
Dune Boots
I ordered a pair of Autumn/Winter tan chelsea boots from Dune to collect in store. The boyf kindly went to collect them for me (I know, he's a keeper/modern day Disney prince for sure!) and I arrived to at his house to this. Blog world, meet Arthur, a Magis Design Puppy. Arthur is the boyfs collectible art piece in his living room. I personally like to dress Arthur in my clothes, isn't he cute?
infamous diner Manchester
Infamous Diner
This was hands down the best milkshake I ever did consume. Actually, its a cocktail (I know, I know, calm yourselves) from this incredible diner that opened up in Manchester called 'Infamous Diner'. The menu is spectacular and this was a strawberry milkshake with vanilla vodka (odd but super tasty).
Deer
I keep scrolling through my instagram photos to this one because it makes me think of Autumn and Winter so much. I am so excited for the Christmas decorations to come out and to go for lots of festive walks. It gives me tingles just thinking about it!
ASDA bedding
Cosy sundays
*soppy alert* My favourite time of the week has to be Sunday mornings having cosy mornings in bed with the boyf. We have a sunday tradition of tea and bacon sandwiches in bed which has been made even more cosy with this new bedding from Asda. I have to admit, Asda is on top form this season with cosy and stylish homeware!
Autumn walks
Don't you just love crisp Autumn walks where the trees are all pretty shades of Autumn and there's crunchy leaves on the ground? Okay I know I am a teeeensy weeeensy bit obsessed with Autumn (okay maybe a lot) but it really is the best time of year! Andit's tartan scarf and winter boot season. What's not to love?!
Okay I hope you enjoyed my first instagram post and here comes to shameless promotion. If you want to see more (I mean why wouldn't you?!) and follow my instagram then you can at @laurabelsh13

22 Thoughts Of A 22 Year Old

Okay, I've been meaning to write this post for lets say about 6 months. Being the most inconsistent sporadic blogger on the planet, quite clearly you can see I have failed. It then hit me today I have 1 month left (well I did when I wrote this paragraph, now I have 3 weeks!) until I turn 23 and therefore would no longer be able to write a post on such an important year AND that I no longer will be able to sing '22' by TayTay and really mean it. I know, I'm as devastated as you are.

On the topic of '22' by good old gal pal Swifty (We're not really gal pals but I totally wish we were), I remember pre 22 singing those lyrics like whatever 22 woooo and it really didn't mean a thing when I was singing I'm happy free confused and lonely in the best way. Like whatevs, they were just lyrics to my 21 year old mind. But no, I turned 22 and shit hit the fan and those lyrics finally took some serious meaning. Deep I know. Being 22 is probably the weirdest year you'll experience.....(yet?) You've graduated, you're in a shit ton of debt, the universe wants you to have a job, everything keeps changing all the time and for some odd reason people start asking you when you plan to have kids (what is with that?!)

Anyways, being the sensitive sausage that I am, I've done a lot of deep thinking, a lot of crying, a lot of laughing, a lot of crazy and a lot of stupid stuff this year. But then again, 22 doesn't have anything to do with that, that's just standard me. But yeah, its been a hell of a year and I thought it was FINALLY time to share the 22 thoughts of a 22 year old. Brace yourselves because I don't know where I'm going with this either. But I thought, if one person culd relate to my 22 year self then I'll be happy. And if not...send the men with the straight jackets this way please...

1. Don't expect for things to fall into place
Like for real, so many people think once they graduate and get past 21 they're supposed to be in a set career, half way to owning a mortgage and planning a small army of kids. It's really not like that.

2. Growing old is terrible, you will soon realise
You're gonna seriously long for those student days slobbing in your pjs, hanging out your butt and eating pot noodle. Life can get pretty scary post uni and there's no way to avoid that. I mean, who wants responsibility anyway?!

3. Growing old is so much fun
Yes I said growing old is terrible but it's also really really fun. You have so much more freedom and choice with your life and you're okay with that.

4. The world is your oyster
Spiraling from point 3, you have so much choice in life and you're just starting out. Go crazy!

5. Get ready for adult outgoings
So remember when your outgoings were your mobile phone bill and your mobile phone bill alone? Now it's rent, car, car insurance, petrol, phone bill, gym membership, bills bills and more bills. Oh get ready for that new lottery ticket addiction you fast develop.

6. Change is on every corner
One of the things I've struggled with the most is lack of consistency. Throughout your education things are always consistent, term time, school holidays, classmates etc. Losing that security that things pretty much remain in the same format for years is terrifying.

7.  Staying in contact is a challenge in itself
With change on every corner and all of your friends getting new jobs, moving across the country or the planet, it becomes harder and harder to stay in contact. So don't beat yourself up about that, trust me, the prospect of arranging a drink with local friends is a struggle, let alone with long distance friends.

8. You wont be the same person you were a year ago
This one is a biggy, the transformation you take is mad, from responsibility to interests to passions, you'll develop into a braver, head on straight kind of you. You'll tend to start thinking things through a lot more. Your life just got adult.

9. Shared interests will become different interests
You'll begin to notice things some of your friends like doing is something you don't like doing anymore. Whether that's getting insanely hammered off your face or spending every weekend in a bar. That's all okay to, you're just becoming a new you.

10. You tend to question everything in life
Like for real, why do we go to university? what if I'm not on the right track? what if that opportunity doesn't work out how I wanted? what if deep down I was really meant to be the next 90s Britney Spears? Looooots of questions.

11. You'll start to look after yourself more
Remember that day at uni when you had a McDonalds for breakfast, a Pot Noodle for lunch and a Dominos for tea? Yeah you can't get away with that anymore so bye bye student eating and hello 'could I have a salad with that?'.

12. You'll never have time to do anything
Or so it feels. You have an ongoing list of things you need to achieve and you just need one extra day in the week, week in the month and month in the year to do that

13. You're going to be too hard on yourself
You'll often compare yourself to where everyone else is at and that's not good. You made it this far and that's amazing so stop comparing your successes to everyone else.

14. You'll slowly become your parents
Well I don't mean you'll morph into them and do everything they do but you'll catch yourself saying things they would say or approaching things how they would. You seriously just became adult.

15. A lot of fashion decisions will be questioned
Like did you really go out in that short tight dress or those tiny black hot pants and a crop top those years ago? What were you thinking?

16. Success will take time
Don't expect to be the CEO of the universe by the time your 25 and therefore being 22 means you should already be senior manager of planet earth. Don't rush and don't be tough on yourself, you're doing just fine where you are.

17. 'Me' time is even more important than ever
It's pretty easy to get swept up into all the rubbish of your bad day/week and to be running around trying to please everyone before you realise you've exhausted yourself and don't feel as engaged with those things you used to love. Take a time out, lock yourself away, shut off your phone and do what you want to do. Do this at least once a week (I suck at maintaining this but I do try!).

18. Breaking down doesn't mean you're not strong
We've all been there on a bad day when the whole world is on your case and you just can't deal with it anymore and so you go and cry and you're a soppy mess and then you feel even more ridiculous because you can't remember why you were crying in the first place? Yeah, that's really okay.Don't beat yourself up about it as it happens to everyone. Ladies, you know what I mean.

19. Do what YOU want to do
A weird habbit I noticed over the past 6 months is whenever I am with any of my friends the conversation tends to trail off to 'so when do you want to move out?' or 'when do you think you'll get married?' or 'where do you see your career going?' and quite frankly it's weird. You'll always find each friend has a different opinion of when is right to move out, get married, have kids, move careers etc etc etc etc. But your scenario is different so do what you are happy with and not what everyone else is telling you!

20. Find time to be creative
Whether it's blogging, painting, baking, sewing, photography, music etc, do it. It's so important. Pursue something that excites you and that you have a passion for. Express yourself in whatever way you can. If you want to be Beyonce...well you go and do that and when you do let me know how you get on because I want to be Beyonce too.

 21. Reach out to your friends
I think one of the biggest mistakes I made this year was not contacting friends on those crappy evenings when the day had been awful and I felt at an all time low. A few weeks back I used my common sense and called my best friend and told her everything that was on my mind (yes I may have cried a little too) and it turned out she had been through the exact same thing and had the best advice for me. And it was all better in the space of a 30 minute phone call. Turns out, someone will have experienced what you're going through at some point so talk talk talk, let it all out and even cry like a whaling cat if you have to.

22. Being in your 20s is so confusing but I think that's okay
Seriously, one week I can be as happy as larry, raring to take on the world and the next week I have to seriously motivate myself to get out of bed in the morning because I just don't want to face planet earth. Everyone's winging it, every week will be different, we're all fighting our own battles and we're all just getting by okay. So don't freak out if you go through 5 life plans in one week and the next think you're on the wrong track. I think its supposed to happen and we're supposed to learn from it.

Okay so if you made it through all 22 points and still are continuing to read my drivel then well done you. Go and treat yourself to a cake or something because even I am exhausted. I hope you enjoyed this and t least one human out there can relate to the 22 crazy thoughts of a 22 year old soon to be 23. DUN DUN DUN.

Autumn Is Calling

Okay hands up, who here is secretly thrilled summer is over and its getting to Autumn?! Yeah that's so me! Crunchy Autumn leaves, pretty colours in the trees, cosy knitwear, woodland walks, shiny leather boots, open fires, hot chocolate and of course, the big build up to Christmas! I said it last year in my Autumn post, in fact I say it so much I sound like a broken stuck record and actually want it printed on a t-shirt, I just love love love Autumn! It is the most special magical time of year. AND it means the end of summer fashion. Quite frankly I feel I wear Autumn best (I even managed to get out of bikini season!) and summer fashion just makes me feel like a whale in a dress.

As always things are getting busier and the weeks are flying by, I mean, can you believe we're 3 months away from Christmas?! I'm trying not to panic about that but where has the year gone?! What a year it has been, I'm not going to get sentimental and soppy yet (I know I know but I promise it's on its way).

Aaaanyway I wanted to share with you a few snippets of Autumn so far. I had a week off work so the boyf so kindly let me stay at his for a total of 9 nights. And before you ask, no I did not break anything during my time there and no he did not get fed up of me because  I'm messy (which I'm not, it's just organised chaos and I only spilt MAC foundation on his new cream carpet ONCE okay!!.). We had a lovely week of adventures from zoo trips to expensive shopping trips (but i now own a gorgeous New ralph lauren shirt darling) and bits of Autumn seeped on through. I took a few photos of when we went to the Zoo and other places I thought I could share with you brighten this darkening week!

Indian elephant chester zoo

Okay how bloody cute are the meerkats? I want to be one. They're just the most chilled animal I've ever seen.

Meerkat Chester Zoo

Chester Zoo have opened up a new section called 'The Islands' that is surrounded by a lazy river in which you can take a slow moving literally lazy boat ride. It was very beautiful however as it had just opened it lacked animals...yehuh...the zoo lacked animals...great

This is the bit where we entered the Butterfly house which is great because great big ass butterflys are all over the place flying at you. Which is also terrible if you're like me and have a mass fear of insects. My boyfriend, I feel, despairs of me as I am trying to take photos of pretty butterflys which then proceed to fly at me and I run a mile in the opposite direction. But still, they make good photographs!

Continuing on the nature of fun we went to the Chestnut Centre which is this beautiful nature reserve for otters and owls in the peak district.  It's one of those hidden gems you never hear about but it really is stunning and provides the opportunity to see animals you wouldn't normally see.

After walking through a beautiful meadow surrounded my trees, hills and graceful deer, you enter a small woodland area with a pathway through the trees. As you follow the path you meet lots of enclosures filled with every breed of owl you could imagine (which I am going to be honest and say were pretty boring as they do not move from the back of their pens, I mean I am just saying if I were an owl with people admiring me I'd put on a Beyonce style show...just saying...) and lots of cute otter enclosures. We were lucky enough to follow the keeper around and watch him feed all the otters which got them out and putting on a fun show. It was so sweet!

I mean just look at dat cute widdle face *in baby voice you talk to your dog to*

We also got the chance to feed some deer in the deer meadow, it was such a beautiful moment, particularly with the headman himself Mr Stag looking all regal and gracing us with his presence. It gave me tingles as it felt like the true beginning of Autumn. I love visiting deer parks in the winter as it's like stepping inside a Christmas card.  I can't wait for it to get proper chilly so I can don my leather boots, big coat, tartan scarf and woolly hat and go for some winter walks.

Do you feel all autumny yet? I so do! Bring on more autumn fun and hopefully more nature filled crisp pituresque walks before Christmas arrives!

Marc Jacobs Mini Perfumes

Marc jacobs minis

First of all, how cute are are mini bottles of perfume? And how incredibly handy? They just slip in your handbag and BAM you smell fresh 24 hours a day! Well, that and showering, you should probably do that every 24 hours too...

My parents went to Greece a few weeks back and treated me to this set of Marc Jacobs minis. I LOVE Marc Jacobs Dust, it's definitely one of my fave perfumes. I'd never tried any of the others so it was quite exciting to have such choice. I don't know about you but I am a bit of a perfume hoarder, I try to make them last all year round until my next birthday/Christmas as perfumes are so bloody pricey! I am desperate for a new Chanel Chance but quite frankly, I need to take out a mortgage to get a new bottle *may be a slight exaggeration*

marc jacobs

Suprisngly it is 'Dot' that I seem to have used the most, I really thought it would be 'Daisy'. Dot is quite a deep floral scent and therefore lasts all day when I am in work so it's become quite the favourite. But out of all of the scents, what I love the most is the adorable bottles. They are the cutest things I've ever seen! *also maybe a slight exaggeration but they're still cute so shush

Adorable right?! Do you have a favourite Marc Jacobs perfume?!
