Humpday Confession: I Suck At Summer

Like seriously, I really suck at summer. As rude and as unbritish it is of me to say, it is my least favourite season. If you have issues with this, get off my blog and let me hate on summer in peace.
So yeah I did a post last year on women being seasonal and yadadada read it here. I'm expanding on that because as I get older I become more comprehensive (lol who am I kidding?!) and my list for my dislike of summer gets longer. The only positive for summer is that I can drink Gin and Tonic and cocktails in the middle of the day and no one bats an eyelid. You do that kind of crazy act in the winter and it's 'OOOH should you be drinking so early in the day'.

Now moving on before you all accuse me of alcoholism

Wimbledon
So Wimbledon has just been on. I hate it. Yehuh shame. on. me. But it is so so so so so boring. I'm sorry but it is. Every summer it hogs 2 weeks of TV and it is all anyone talks about. ZZZZ. Fair enough watching the finals but do you really need to watch every ball flying over the net for the whole two weeks? And why do the women only get a measly silver plate as the champion prize and the men get a great big bloody trophy? Inequality or what?! Overcompensating for something else if you ask me...Just kidding...

Heat
I hate being hot. I don't mind it if I am in a bikini (lol I hate bikini's I take that back) sipping cocktails by a poolside in some gorgeous Greek holiday resort surrounded by lovely Greek men but English heat is grosser then a tennis players sweatband at the end of Wimbledon. It's uncomfortable, makes me look greasy and it's impossible to ever get the right outfit.

Clothes
I came to the realisation yesterday that I own no summer clothes. Yes I have T-shirts and some skirts and dresses but I tend to layer up as I hate revealing my pale pale self. I make Casper the friendly ghost look like he goes for regular spray tans. I'm a winter boots, jeans and chunky knitwear kinda gal. That way I can feel good and hide my non Beyonce bod. OH and my DD's because quite frankly I can't even go to the supermarket in a vest top without losing count of how many guys/grown men/old men stare at my chest. *sighs*

Make-Up
Nothing hurts more then spending time making yourself look puuurdy in the morning and coming home after a heated day and looking like you've had a bucket of water thrown at your face. That or you get Panda eyes. Heat and make up are no no no. Winter and make up is a yes yes yes.

Effort
Everything is effort in the heat. It makes me sleepy. I'm like a cat in the summer, I just want to laze about and stretch all out. I suppose this isn't such an issue right now because it's not like I have a job to attend?! However I know come a few weeks when I am doing 7-4 shifts in hell woops I mean at the Kennels, no doubt I will just want to die.

Summer Work
Unless your an adult in the world of serious business no doubt you have to get a summer job between uni/college/whatever you're doing. Chances are you'll be stuck waittressing, retail assisting or in my case dog poop shoveling. Summer work sucks. Underpaid and over worked. However always bare this in mind, no matter how crappy a day you're having always remember I will literally be covered head to toe in crap and therefore my day will always be worse.
I hope I helped.

And that concludes this weeks Humpday Confession. I actually look forward to this every week now and I definitely recommend getting involved, it's a great way to meet new bloggers/have a laugh.

  1. I am a fellow Summer hater. Winter is the best! All the snow! No underboob sweat! I can't get naked to cool down in public during the summer, but I can add layers in public to get warm in the winter. I have an aversion to sand, so the beach isn't my thing. It's too hard to find a swimsuit with big boobs. Summer just isn't worth it.

  2. in the summer, my makeup is reduced even more. who wants to wear all that crap on your face in the heat? not me. now that i've found an amazing bronzer, i just ditch the rest and only swipe that on. then i walk out the door feeling looking like beyonce.

    thanks for linking up!

  4. As a Chicagoan I dislike summer and hate winter just because of the snow storms. BUT it's exhausting trying to maintain looking cute throughout the day when you're sweating like crazy and your hair gets all gross. My winter wardrobe is definitely better than my summer one haha.

  5. I always give up trying to wear makeup in the summer, and when I do it is only a touch of eye shadow and a tiny bit of mascara. If it makes you feel any better I have to muck out horse stalls all year round, so sometimes I am covered in poop too :)

  9. I'm loving summer. As a Canadian, half my year is spent shovelling the driveway. It's nice to have warm weather for the next 3 weeks (yes, Canadian summers are super short). But I do agree, I never want to do anything in the heat, but I have no qualms with that. Maybe you were meant to be Canadian :)

And I waitress and am done school. I hate, hate, hate, hate it. But, I make a killing. So I shouldn't really complain.

  10. One thing I am dreading when it comes to Australian summer is what it does to my hair. One season of everyday bad hair day; the worst.

  11. My skin luckily looks better in the summer thanks to the sun so makeup isn't as necessary as the colder months! I'm a summer girl for sure either way though. The cold kills me.
