A Drama Queens Adventure To New York...Part 2!

I'm back! I feel like it has taken me ages to do part 2 but jet lag and work have hit me like a train and I'm feeling much like the walking dead. But on we must go with part 2! First of all, thank you for taking the time to read part 1 and I really appreciate the feedback, especially on the photos! So here we go with part 2...

1. Pier 84
Pier 84 in New York city is a wonderful place to go. Surrounded by spectacular skyline views, the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space museum and more boat tours then there are days in the week. We did a 'New York Water Taxi' which was a hop on hop of system. It worked out brilliantly for the perfect day. We hopped off at Brooklyn, walked across the Brooklyn Bridge, toured the financial district and the 9/11 memorial before hopping back on the water taxi for a quick photo opportunity at the statue of liberty and back to pier 84.

2. Intrepid, Sea Air and Space museum
If you ever get the time in New York to visit this museum, I demand you don't hesitate and you get there straight away. This little hidden gem holds the history to ww2 battles over the ocean, sky and now hosts the home to a British Airways condcorde and the Space Shuttle Pavilion. You're standing by great history and having your mind blown at the same time. What's not to love?!

 3. The Beast
Another hidden gem among pier 84. 'The Beast' is a 30 minute speedboat thrill ride down the Hudson river. I definitely recommend it as the whole time I couldn't stop laughing and smiling. The guys that run it are hilarious and it is definitely a refreshing break from the busy streets of New York!

4. 5th Avenue
Definitely my favourite Avenue in all of New York. Designer shop after designer shop, hand bag after handbag! The day I wish the lottery is the day I fly to 5th aveue! I couldn't go down 5th avenue without making one cheeky purchase!

So here we are. I hope you enjoyed! If this makes no sense, I do apologise but I am still in autopilot from jet lag and work.

Thanks for reading!

A Drama Queens Adventure In New York...Part One.

Well howdy folks! I hope you have all had a wonderful week, I most certainly have! I touched down back in the UK at about 7 this morning so I am feeling heavily jet lagged plus due to plane rides, boat rides and lots of long elevator rides over the past week, I am also in the midst of motion sickness. Even as I'm writing this blog my laptop is rocking side to side, so forgive me if this post makes no sense at all. I'm going to do a couple of blog posts on New York and all the crazy things that went on. The main focus of this one is all the fun stuff I got to do and see. Jeez does this paragraph sound boring? It sounds boring right? I don't even have the energy to sound enthusiastic. Yet I need to stay busy to stop myself falling asleep so sorry blogger/glipho, you're going to have to suffer some sloppy blogging at my expense.

*One Day Later*

Okay I wrote that paragraph yesterday and then I fell asleep. I feel slightly more with it today though so maybe this blog post wont be such a disaster! And my laptop isn't rocking side to side as much so there's hope for us yet!

Now I've decided the main theme for this blog post is 'All the amazing things I did and saw in New York'. So I'll quit the jibba jabba and get stuck in.

1. Times Square
Well there is me, stood in the middle of Times Square! I'll be honest, I didn't enjoy Times Square as much as I thought I did purely because it was so busy and there were so many people trying to sell things to me as I walked down I just felt irritated. However that doesn't mean it isn't a truly magical place to stand. It's incredible how the whole stretch is shadowed by large screens and lights advertising world famous brands. More streets all over the world need to be like this as it certainly brightens up what otherwise could be a dull, concrete street. Bravo New York!
There is me doing my own version of 'Empire State Of Mind'. I make Alicia Keys look nothing right? Okay note the tone of sarcasm. Another impressive factor of Times Square is the retail. My personal favourite was the Disney Store as I'm obsessed! If I had more money I would have definitely bought something from every store, even Toys R Us which, by the way, had a Ferris wheel inside. America is so 'Go large or go home'. Love it!

2. Top Of The Rock
This was probably my favourite part of New York. Top Of The Rock, part of the Rockefeller Center, gives you a 360 view of all of Manhattan and beyond. We went up at around 8:30am which provided us with a beautiful picturesque morning over Manhatten in a peaceful setting. I could have sat there all day long and just watched the world go by. If you ever go to New York I recommend this as a must! And don't forget your camera! I really envy those in New York that get to experience views like this every single day!

3. Central Park
My main reason for going to Central Park was to go to some of its most famous sites from films and TV. I did fangirl over the spot where Blair and Chuck from Gossip Girl got married in the final episode! If I lived in New York I'd aim to spend at least one day a week there purely for the beautiful scenery and space. I wish I lived close to a park like this!

4. Empire State Building
If you plan to go up the Empire State Building I would suggest going up in the evening. The queuing takes less time and you get a once in a life time view of New York lit up like a Christmas tree! New York may not be the prettiest city to walk around in during the day but at night it's absolutely spectacular how many lights illuminate beauty into the view!

Okay folks, I'm leaving it here for now as I feel if my post is too long you will all get bored. So come back for Part 2 either later in the day or tomorrow evening!

Before I go I shall leave you with one last very important shot.

Macy's!! I wish wish wish wish wish wish the UK had a Macy's, preferably at the end of my street. If you're not careful you could end up spending a whole day in there. UK readers, Macy's is like Selfridges but a million times bigger. I couldn't go all the way to New York and not make a cheeky purchase right? So as a handbag addict as you may know, I treated myself to a MICHAEL Michael Kors Jet Set Top-Zip Saffiano Tote. It is the most beautiful handbag I have ever owned and I cannot stop staring at it.

Thanks for reading, I hope you enjoyed it and I shall be doing Part 2 sometime soon!

You have been missed!

Just a quick one...

Just a quick blog post to say goodbye for now!

There there, try not to miss me too much ;) I'm kidding you probably wont even notice that I have left. I go away tomorrow for a few days and therefore probably wont be blogging for a week. However you know me and internet addiction, I'll find away in the USA ;) Apparently my hotel room has free WiFi so maybe I will get a cheeky blog post in somewhere. Who knows?

I shouldn't even be sat on here blogging as my mum keeps shouting at me to pack but I'm far too chilled and excited to be worrying about that right now! So I shall leave you with a good bye for now, leave me lots of fun blog posts and comments to come back to. I really will miss you!

This is my 'I go away in less then 24 hours and I still haven't packed' face

See you soon

A Drama Queens New York Wardrobe...

As I mentioned in my previous blog post, I'm off to New York very soon and I am VERY very very very excited. Did I mention I was excited? I treated myself to some serious retail therapy on Monday for some final bits and bobs before I go and I ended up spending more money then I own. However it was totally worth it.

I began to sort through clothes today for my trip and thought I would share with you a few of my outfit ideas. Now I wouldn't normally do a fashion blog as there are so many talented people on the internet that already have it covered and to be honest, I'm about as graceful as an elephant when it comes to modelling clothes. No matter how hard I try, I always end up looking like I got dressed in the dark. So I just took a few quick photos of my ideas on my beautiful stunning carpet (that's a joke, I'm hoping to distract you from how gross it actually is.). I want to hear your thoughts on the whole thing!

Outfit 1.
Top: Primark/Skirt: Primark/Shoes: Vans/Handbag: Fiorelli

This is definitely my favourite outfit. I bought the top and skirt from the wonderful Primark on Monday. It's so overly coordinated it's almost too much but I think it's really sweet and unusual. I'm thinking of wearing this on the plane so I'm warm enough leaving England and hopefully I wont be too hot when I touch down in the USA! I think thr Fiorelli bag is a must as it's so cute and quirky, it fits with this outfit style.

Outfit 2.
Dress:H&M/Sandals:New Look/Necklace:H&M

I picked up this cute dress in H&M and it's been true love ever since. I love how comfortable the fabric is and it is also a dress that can be styled down for the day but easily dressed up for the evening. Also, the necklace adds a bit more style and interest to the block colours. I don't really tend to wear sandals unless I'm abroad in Europe however I figured as the weather is hot and I will be doing a lot of walking around I might as well don a comfy pair of sandals!

Outfit 3
Shirt:H&M/Skirt:Primark/Pumps:H&M/Handbag:Nica

This outfit is nice and loose, perfect for walking around a hot city. I love the detailed floral embroidery on the shirt, it has to be one of my favourite purchases from H&M. I also have a soft spot for the delicate styles of Nica handbags. They are always fairly priced for a good quality bag. This one is so pretty I try to take it everywhere!

Outfit 4
Top:Primark/Skirt:Primark/Pumps: Vivienne Westwood + Melissa

I love a good denim skater skirt as you can wear them with pretty much any style of top. It's an easy option to have in your wardrobe. I'll also let you into a little secret, the daisy top is actually a peplum top. Stocked up on peplum tops from AW12? Why not reinvent them by tucking them into a skater skirt and viola!

The Vivienne Westwood flats arrived in the post today and it was definitely love at first wear. They are surprisingly comfy! I was expecting them to take quite a bit of wear before I'd be comfortable in them however this was not the case. I felt like I was walking around in a pair of slippers in the supermarket before. They are definitely one of my faverouite items in my wardrobe now, perfect for all seasons and all occasions and topped off with sweet strawberry scent. I might even save up for another pair as they come in a range of styles and colours it would simply be foolish not to!

Now I'm not really much of an accessories girl like I used to be. In college I was known for always having necklaces, earrings and bracelets all coordinating with a new outfit every day. However in time I have stuck to my good old Pandora and spinning rings. I love my Pandora as I have had in it since I was 16 and each charm holds special meaning and memories so I like to wear it everywhere I go in the world. The rings were my 18th birthday present and complete every outfit. Whilst I am in New York I will be on the look out for a special necklace to join the family.

Okay so how did I do? Did elephant gracefulness cross your mind as you scrolled on through? Don't worry these wont be the only clothes I'm bringing to NY. I have more dresses then the days I'm actually in the USA but you can never be too prepared!!
